Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation plane arrives at Las Americans International Airport

A relief plane belonging to Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation arrived this evening at Las Americans International Airport in the Dominican Republic, carrying 77 tons of food aids and medical supplies for the relief of victims of the earthquake which struck Haiti, killed tens of thousands, displaced hundreds of thousands and caused huge destruction of infrastructure.

These aids come within implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, may God save and bless him, to provide emergency aids to the Republic of Haiti which sustained huge damages and losses caused by the earthquake that hit the capital.

Within the Foundation’s keenness to carry out the directives of His Highness, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, may God save and bless him,  Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation delegation received the plane for supervision and coordination with the Dominican Government for the delivery of aids to Haiti, to provide relief services to meet the requirements of the Haitian scene facing huge humanitarian challenges as a result of the damages caused by the earthquake.

The aids will be transported by land to the affected Republic of Haiti to boost the international relief efforts for the benefit of the affected.

His Excellency Murilos Carlos Troncoso, Foreign Minister of the Dominican Republic, met in his office with both Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation and Red Crescent Authority delegations and discussed with them issues relating to relief work for the earthquake victims in Haiti and mechanisms for the delivery of aids and relief items.

Troncoso stressed his country’s readiness to receive any aids from friendly countries and to deliver them to the affected in the neighboring Haiti, especially if it is difficult for the airport of the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, to receive these aids which started flowing from all over the world for the relief of the distressed.

Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation works in coordination with the Dominican Republic and humanitarian organizations operating in Haiti, such as the World Food Programme, the Dominican and Haitian Red Cross and the “Save the Children” Foundation to provide the best relief services to reduce suffering of the affected and improve their humanitarian conditions as soon as possible in the wake of the devastating earthquake.
