Within its wide humanitarian and relief efforts around the world, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has contributed to supporting the education sector in needy countries and affected countries, believing in the importance of this sector in the renaissance of peoples, the development of countries and the achievement of a decent life for people.
Through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, the Kingdom has implemented 90 humanitarian projects in the education sector in more than 15 countries around the world, including (Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Pakistan, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Thailand, Somalia, Myanmar, Mali, Sudan , Iraq, Tanzania, Burkina Faso), with a value of more than $200 million.
The center’s projects included supporting educational services in the targeted countries, preparing the infrastructure for schools and securing their operating expenses, providing school supplies for male and female students, in addition to building the capacities of teachers professionally, building the capacities of child protection specialists in the field of psychological and social support, and supporting and rehabilitating parents through educational programs. educational, awareness-raising and professional programs, and the center’s efforts extended to include supporting the education of children with disabilities and education programs to eradicate illiteracy.
The King Salman Relief Center has established multiple partnerships with various international and international organizations and civil society organizations; To support and implement projects related to this sector in needy and affected countries, and among the most prominent partners in this field are the United Nations Children’s Fund “UNICEF”, the United Nations Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization “UNESCO” and the International Organization for Migration, where partnerships included supporting the educational process in light of the Corona pandemic, and ensuring its continuity in disaster and crisis areas.
The brotherly Yemen came at the forefront of countries that received projects presented by the Kingdom represented by the Center to support its educational sector, with 23 projects targeting various Yemeni governorates without discrimination or exception, with a value of more than 120 million US dollars, while the State of Palestine came second with 11 projects in this field with more than 41 million dollars.
The humanitarian center’s efforts in supporting education also included its initiative to pay the defaulted dues to students of needy countries at Al-Madinah International University in Malaysia, as well as its sponsorship of the annual expenses for orphaned and needy students in the Islamic Sheikhdom Schools in Albania.
The education sector is one of 13 vital sectors supported by the King Salman Relief Center in needy countries, which include the food security sector, health, shelter, water, environmental sanitation, protection and other vital sectors, based on the Kingdom’s keenness to stand with countries and peoples in need and provide everything that would alleviate suffering from them.
