Al Maktoum Foundation officially launches ‘Mawhibati’ initiative for the people of determination
Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Rawdha bint Ahmad bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, Al Maktoum Foundation officially launched ‘Mawhibati’ initiative for the people of determination, during its press conference held at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, Dubai.
Mirza Al Sayegh, Director of the office of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, said that Al Maktoum Foundation has launched this initiative for promoting the people of determination with the aim of developing their talents and integrating them into society, as well as removing the obstacles hindering their participation in this field.
Mirza Al Sayegh also said that the vision of this initiative is aimed at taking into account the special needs of the people of determination, and highlighting their talents while activating their roles as active members in the society. This would be carried out using the best international practices in the fields of care and rehabilitation, as well as giving equal rights to the people of determination, which in turn would raise the levels of happiness and empowerment of this dear segment.
For his part, Mohammed Obaid bin Ghannam, Secretary General of the Foundation said that this initiative is the first of its kind in the region to present excellence awards from Her Highness Sheikha Rawdha bint Ahmad bin Juma Al Maktoum to the people of determination in the fields of Quran memorization, agriculture, photography, handicrafts and others. He also pointed out that the initiative’s program is to nominate talents from centers and clubs designated for the people of determination according to various talents and competencies. The nominees would then be recruited and enrolled in training courses for a period of four months, each according to his/her specialization in coordination with our strategic partners in this initiative. The winners will eventually be announced and presented with excellence awards by Sheikha Rawdha on 1 October.
Bin Ghannam added that this initiative includes carrying out training courses and competitions for the people of determination, not to mention the symposium to promote the people of determination, which was held by the Foundation in April, in addition to digital photography exhibition, and ‘Good-Makers’ program broadcasted on radio and television.
Abdeen Taher, Director General of Beit Al Khair Association, the strategic partner of the Al Maktoum Foundation said in the press conference that the UAE has achieved a paradigm shift in the concept of social care when it changed the concept of care and rehabilitation of people of determination from its traditional framework to its modern and comprehensive meaning. This ensures that the various aspirations and requirements of this segment are met, as well as guaranteeing its active participation with the rest of the society in all aspects of life. This was the main aim of this philanthropic initiative launched by the Al Maktoum Foundation, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Rawdha bint Ahmad bin Juma Al Maktoum.
At the conclusion of the press conference, Mirza Al Sayegh, Director of the office of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and member of the Board of Trustees, thanked all the sponsors of the initiative, and all of the institutions and charities for their active participation in this initiative that aims to elevate and promote the people of determination, stressing that determination, persistence, and belief in one’s capabilities are the most important tools for the people of determination to achieve success in life.
