Nasereldin lives in Khartoum state, Sudan, with his 5 children. Since suffering a stroke 10 years ago, he has struggled to find employment.

“It is difficult to buy meat as the priority is buying my medicines,” he explains. Nasereldin’s stroke left the 54-year-old widower unable to work as a driver.

“Now, my eldest son, Ahmed, provides for us. He is also a driver. We live in a rented house and paying rent is a challenge. Sometimes we don’t have anything to eat for a whole day.”

Nasereldin is one of almost 192,000 people across Sudan who received a meat parcel from Islamic Relief last year to celebrate Eid al-Adha.

Nasereldin and one of his daughters enjoys a meal following an Islamic Relief qurbani distribution

The 5kg parcel provided enough meat for him and his children to enjoy nutritious meals for a week.

“I am grateful for the support I received – it took a lot of effort. May Allah reward the donors with goodness and blessings.

“[Eid] means forgiveness and gathering with family. I wish all days were Eid.”
