The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works completed in mid-March, in cooperation with the Ministry of Mining Resources, Energy and Water in Somaliland, a project to build 20 water dams in the valleys that cover the southwest of Hargeisa, dig 14 wells in the northeast of Hargeisa, and drill 9 wells, with the provision of water collection basins in Borough area.
During the ceremony, which was held on this occasion and attended by a delegation from the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works, Hussein Abdi Daala, Minister of Water and Mineral Resources, Governor of Hargeisa, a number of ministries’ undersecretaries and a crowd of residents of the region, Abdi Rahman Zeilai, Deputy Ruler of Somaliland, praised the efforts of the UAE to lead The government and people, and the great and supportive role that the UAE provides to the Somali people.
He specifically thanked the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works for its positive role in saving those affected by drought and drought in his country and securing food and medicine supplies, which had an effective impact in alleviating the suffering of those affected by famine in both Somaliland and southern Somalia.
The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works aims from this project to provide clean water to Somalis in light of the difficult environmental, living and health conditions that Somalia is going through, as medical reports indicate the widespread incidence of kidney failure as a result of drinking contaminated water.
