Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him”, a relief plane belonging to the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works left the country yesterday, heading to the Dominican Republic, carrying 77 tons of food aid and medical supplies for earthquake relief. Which struck Haiti, killing tens of thousands, displacing hundreds of thousands, and causing massive damage to infrastructure.
The aid will go by land to the stricken Republic of Haiti in order to strengthen international relief efforts for the benefit of the affected people.
A delegation from the Khalifa bin Zayed Foundation for Humanitarian Works traveled to the Dominican Republic earlier to receive the plane and to supervise and coordinate with the Dominican government in order to deliver aid to Haiti… in the framework of the Foundation’s keenness to implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State. May God protect him by providing relief services that meet the requirements of the Republic of Haiti, which faces major humanitarian challenges as a result of the damage caused by the earthquake.
His Excellency Carlos Morels Troncoso, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, had discussed with officials during his recent visit to the country the mechanisms for delivering aid and relief materials that were directed by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him” to the earthquake victims of Haiti.
He stressed his country’s readiness to receive any aid from friendly countries and deliver it to the affected people in neighboring Haiti, especially in the event that the airport of the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince could not receive the aid that began to flow from all over the world to provide relief to the afflicted.
The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works seeks to implement the directives of His Highness, the President of the State, which confirms the interest that the UAE leadership attaches to the humanitarian issues of the peoples of the world and in response to the call of humanitarian duty in order to alleviate the suffering of those affected.
The Foundation will work in coordination with the United Nations and the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in the country and humanitarian organizations operating in Haiti, such as the World Food Program and the Save the Children Foundation.. to provide the best relief services to reduce the suffering of those affected and improve their humanitarian conditions as soon as possible given what they suffer from as a result of the devastating earthquake. .
The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works confirmed that it is making this contribution within the framework of international humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering in Haiti and reduce the repercussions of the situation there on the lives of civilians and the local population.
