An official source in the Foundation said that the last of these aids that reached the residents of the island contained more than five tons of medical materials and ten modern medical devices related to surgical operations and laboratory tests for the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Hospital located on the island, as well as ten tons of blankets and tents, and 500 Tons of miscellaneous foodstuffs, and 1,200 barrels of diesel.. This was preceded by other aid, amounting to 11,365 tons of relief materials, transported by sea via four cargo ships and by air on board 16 planes.
The source stated that a team from the Khalifa Foundation for Humanitarian Works, accompanied by a number of officials on the island, inspected the affected areas in Socotra to assess the catastrophic situation that affected the island as a result of the two hurricanes and to determine the humanitarian needs of its people.
The team visited many of the affected areas and was able to open and restore the cut roads in Socotra, which are estimated at more than 150 kilometers, including Hadibo Arsal, Hadibo, Nogad Faraho and Mahfarhan road.
The Foundation team was briefed on the damages that were also caused to Khalifa Bin Zayed Hospital in the Hadibo area of Socotra, which is the only hospital in the archipelago that provides humanitarian assistance to the people of the island. All departments and medical services.
