Yesterday, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center launched a project to distribute 25,000 food baskets weighing 2,425 tons in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, benefiting 175,000 individuals, as part of the Ramadan Feeding Initiative for the year 1443 AH.
The inauguration was attended by the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki, the President of Pakistan’s National Authority for Natural Disaster Management, Lieutenant-General Akhtar Nawaz, and the Director of the King Salman Center for Relief in Pakistan, Dr. Khalid bin Muhammad Al-Othmani.
Ambassador Al-Maliki said that this project comes as a continuation of the support provided by the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the brothers in the Republic of Pakistan and under generous directives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Highness the Crown Prince – may God protect them – through the King Salman Relief Center, adding that the Center He is known for providing humanitarian aid and selecting beneficiaries in a professional manner, explaining that the center’s efforts have always been praised by senior Pakistani officials.
For his part, Chairman of Pakistan’s National Authority for Natural Disaster Management Lieutenant-General Akhtar Nawaz said that Pakistan, since its founding in 1947, has enjoyed exemplary relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, indicating that they are deeply rooted in history and are based on strong religious, cultural and economic values.
He added that the King Salman Relief Center is one of the humanitarian institutions that have been working in Pakistan for years, and has implemented many relief and development projects in areas affected by natural disasters, noting the existing cooperation between the King Salman Center for Relief and the Pakistan National Authority for Natural Disaster Management in distributing relief aid to reach up to beneficiaries across the country.
On behalf of the Pakistani people, Akhtar Nawaz thanked the Kingdom’s leadership for the continuous support provided to the Pakistani people in all trials and hard times.
And the director of the King Salman Center for Relief in Pakistan, Dr. Khalid bin Muhammad Al-Othmani, explained that the project consists in distributing 25,000 integrated food baskets containing all the foodstuffs needed by the family in preparing breakfast and suhoor meals, and they will be distributed to the needy in different regions of Pakistan during the month of Ramadan. It is noteworthy that the Ramadan Feeding initiative targets 19 countries, where 156,993 food baskets weighing 8,430 tons will be distributed, benefiting 901,463 individuals, as part of the relief and humanitarian efforts provided by the Kingdom, represented by the center, to many needy and affected countries.
