The village of the late Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in Indonesia (Panda Achi)

On June 10, 2008, the Kuwait Red Crescent Society and the government of Banda Ashi district in Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding to build 150 homes in a village named after the late Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

On December 5, 2009, the late President of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society Barjas Hammoud Al-Barjas inaugurated this village in a ceremony attended by the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Indonesia Nasser Al-Enezi, and the Governor of Banda Ashi, Arwandi Yousef, a member of the Council of Ministers. The Board of Directors of the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society and its honorary treasure Saad Al-Nasser, as well as the staff of the Kuwaiti Embassy.

In a statement at the opening ceremony, Al-Barjas said: We feel proud and appreciative of our assistance to this great people after the tsunami crisis. He added that on behalf of the State of Kuwait, government and people, the Kuwait Red Crescent Society has taken urgent initiatives to serve those affected in Indonesia.

For his part, the Governor of Banda Ashi praised, in his speech, Kuwait’s efforts to rescue the afflicted in the countries of the world, expressing his warm appreciation for all the assistance provided by Kuwait to Indonesia, especially the Banda Ashi area, including the Jaber building. Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah village, which will be handed over to the people affected by the crisis.

He said that this great humanitarian position on the part of the State of Kuwait is not surprising and will have a tremendous impact on those affected, especially when they reside in their homes in the village.

In the presence of the current Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer, and Honorary Mr. of the Fund and Board Member Saad Al-Nahed, all the facilities of the village of Banda Ashi were opened in 2015, with the opening of Al-Mubarakiya School. multipurpose hall.

2. Infrastructure restoration in Banda Ashi Province, Indonesia

Indonesia enjoyed the largest share of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society’s aid as the country most affected by the tsunami crisis, which was reached through field trips that covered all affected areas.

The efforts of the State of Kuwait in saving and assisting those affected by the disaster did not stop at providing the basic needs of those affected, but rather went beyond these efforts to include long-term reconstruction operations.

Kuwaiti aid was provided through several stages, the first of which was the emergency stage, where it focused on providing food and basic supplies. Kuwait provided urgent aid worth 500,000 dollars to support the relief fund established by Indonesia. Kuwait is the largest donor to this fund.

As for the second stage, it is the rehabilitation stage, as the Kuwaiti Red Crescent sought to enable the afflicted in the Ashi area and other areas to rely on themselves and to rebuild their destroyed areas.

The third phase is known as “reconstruction,” according to which the Kuwait Red Crescent Society purchased 56 heavy machines to build three fresh water purification plants, provided that each plant produces 250,000 liters of water, which contributed to providing clean fresh water.

The Kuwait Red Crescent Society purchased 10 trucks and 150 fishing boats, with 5 fishermen working on each boat. This has provided a source of livelihood for about 750 families. Meanwhile, medical equipment, generators, and specialized systems were provided to Zine El Abidine Hospital in Ashi.
