Today, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action signed three joint cooperation agreements with the World Health Organization to support and empower the capabilities of the Yemeni health sector in accordance with the Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan, with a value of $15 million. The agreements were signed by His Excellency the Adviser at the Royal Court and General Supervisor of the Center, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabiah, and the Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean at the World Health Organization, Dr. Ahmed Al-Mandhari.

Under the first agreement, the health sector in the Republic of Yemen will be strengthened and empowered with basic and life-saving health equipment and the purchase of laboratory tools and medical medicines for treating infectious diseases to support the emergency health response, benefiting 1,270,000 individuals in several Yemeni governorates, with a total value of 11 million and 200 thousand US dollars. 

The second agreement includes the provision of five oxygen stations (the second phase), the provision of logistical means of transportation, the training of hospital workers on the medical gas system and the maintenance of stations, with the aim of raising the readiness of health facilities and settling the sustainability of health services in the governorates of Shabwa, Marib, Abyan and Hadramout, benefiting 41,738 individuals, at a value of Million US dollars.  

While the third agreement will support the logistical work in support of the Corona vaccine (Covid-19) for 10% of the population of the Republic of Yemen, with the aim of activating the revitalization training of health cadres on the procedures for giving the vaccine to the beneficiaries, the deployment of fixed and mobile volunteer teams to vaccinate the beneficiary population, and the implementation of voluntary campaigns to raise awareness of the importance of obtaining In order to raise the preparedness of the health sector in Yemen to confront the pandemic and raise awareness of the importance of taking the vaccine to raise the rates of citizens receiving the vaccine, 886,341 individuals benefit from it in all Yemeni governorates, with a total value of two million and 800 thousand US dollars.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabiah expressed his happiness today with the signing of these three agreements between the King Salman Relief Center and the World Health Organization represented by its regional office, praising the strategic partnership between the Kingdom and the organization that extends for many years and aims to alleviate human suffering wherever he is, indicating that the center has worked during the past few years with The World Health Organization has carried out several projects and programs for the benefit of the brotherly Yemeni people and had a great impact in addressing many diseases and pandemics, the latest of which was the Covid-19 pandemic, noting the distinguished work between the two sides in addressing the cholera epidemic in Yemen, which constituted a great success story.   

His Excellency clarified that this agreement, amounting to $15 million, divided into three projects, embodies the importance of alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people in a number of regions and governorates, as well as equipping health and emergency facilities and supporting the capabilities of health cadres, asking God Almighty to return these agreements and what follows from them. Joint programs for the benefit and benefit of the Yemeni health system, and for Yemen to return to the way it was happy. 

For his part, the WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, Dr. Ahmed Al-Mandhari confirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action, has been a key partner of the World Health Organization for many years to support the various programs implemented by the organization and other UN organizations such as UNICEF in various countries of the world and not only in The Region, which enabled the World Health Organization, by the grace of God Almighty, to provide distinguished health services at various levels and types, thus saving lives in various parts of the world, raising the health level and alleviating the suffering of the needy, explaining that the joint cooperation between the World Health Organization represented by the country office in Yemen with The King Salman Relief Center started projects that were successfully implemented despite the difficulties and challenges we all faced, which are beyond our control. 

Dr. Ahmed Al-Mandhari added that through these agreements signed today, we opened a new chapter for the partnership between us, and we seek, God willing, for this partnership to continue and extend in Yemen and the various countries of the region and beyond, useful that this partnership maintained a good health system in terms of providing the necessary financial support for development programs and providing equipment The equipment and medical needs necessary to implement safe deliveries for women, deliver dialysis devices, CT scans and MRIs, and provide important diagnostic and treatment services.

These agreements come within a series of humanitarian and relief projects implemented by the Kingdom through the center in partnership with the World Health Organization to advance the Yemeni health sector and improve medical services provided to Yemeni citizens in all governorates.
