Nearly million people benefit from Qatar Charity’s Udhiyah globally
Qatar Charity (QC), with the support from the people in Qatar, has successfully implemented the 2021-Udhiyah drive under the theme ‘Delight them with your sacrifice, Let the hope continue’, benefiting 936,980 people in 33 countries, including Qatar.
The Udhiyah project was implemented this year in cooperation with the Widam Food Company in three countries, which are Qatar, Sudan and Kenya.
The Udhiyah project, implemented during the Eid Al-Adha, contributed to better meeting the nutritional needs of poor families, internally displaced people (IDPs), refugees, and those affected by the coronavirus pandemic, and sharing the joy of Eid with them. The meats of 49,524 sacrificed sheep and cows, valued at 27.5 million Qatari riyals, were distributed.
Thanks
At the end of the Udhiyah drive, Qatar Charity thanked all those who donated to the campaign, and noted that the drive was successful thanks to Allah and with the support of the benefactors in Qatar, praying to Allah to accept their acts of giving and helping others.
Qatar Charity also urged philanthropists to continue supporting its relief and developmental projects and campaigns, which are implemented throughout the year, given the magnitude of the need that requires standing by the millions of the poor, the needy, and those affected by crises and disasters, as a humanitarian duty.
Qatar Charity emphasized that its field teams are keen to implement the projects and campaigns in a professional and high-quality manner, so that the donations of benefactors reach their eligible beneficiaries like the poorest and neediest people timely and easily.
Impact
The beneficiaries thanked the donors from Qatar and Qatar Charity, which was the link between them and the benevolent people, asking Allah Almighty to reward those who helped the beneficiaries through this seasonal project.
Local authorities in many countries, where the project was implemented, commended Qatar Charity for its cooperation with them to reach the eligible people, thanking the Qatari leadership, government, and people, for their humanitarian role in helping others and alleviating the suffering of those in need.
Turkey
The project was implemented in many Turkish Provinces in cooperation and coordination with their municipal administration, focusing on poor Syrian refugee families and Turkish households with limited income. The Udhiyah was distributed in Istanbul, Gaziantep, Kilis, Rize, Şanlıurfa, and Yozgat.
Hilmi TÜRKMEN, the Mayor of Uskudar in Istanbul, thanked the Qatari people and Qatar Charity for the continuous support by implementing seasonal, relief and development projects. He also praised the cooperation between his municipality and Qatar Charity in implementing such projects to share the joy with the vulnerable.
Northern Syria
Qatar Charity distributed sacrificial meats to those living in several camps located in the countryside of Aleppo, benefiting hundreds of displaced Syrian families.
Mr. Jihad Al-Khatib, deputy director of a camp in Aleppo countryside, thanked Qatar Charity for its continuous support, indicating that the distribution of sacrificial meat to the camp’s residents has brought joy and happiness to them, as most of them depend on aid provided to them by humanitarian organizations.
Palestine
Qatar Charity, through its two offices in Gaza Strip and the West Bank in Palestine, distributed sacrificial meat in several governorates and villages in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf, targeting the poor, the needy, orphans and their families, persons with special needs and students sponsored by Qatar Charity.
The Undersecretary of the Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, Hussam Abu al–Rub, praised the role of the Qatari people in strengthening the steadfastness of the Palestinian people. He also applauded Qatar Charity for its continuous support for the Palestinian people, emphasizing the importance and volume of aid and projects that Qatar Charity has been implementing.
The beneficiaries were delighted with the implementation of the Udhiyah project. The fisherman Muhammad Al-Lahham, who is suffering from difficult economic conditions, said, “We are happy with this meat, which covers a great need, at a time when I have no source of income due to the restrictions imposed on the fishing sector.”
Najwa Salim, a mother of two orphans, thanked Qatar Charity for the continuous support for the orphans and the needy in the Gaza Strip, explaining that Qatar Charity spares no effort in supporting orphans in particular, whether with sponsorship or seasonal projects. She pointed out that these projects would contribute to meeting the increasing needs of widows with no sources of income.
Sudan
Qatar Charity implemented the project in several states of Sudan in cooperation with the Widam Food Company and under the supervision of Qatar Charity’s field teams. The project targeted those sponsored by Qatar Charity, in addition to poor families.
The Board of Islamic Endowments in Sudan thanked Qatar Charity for providing Udhiyah to memorization centers and imams. A large number of Udhiyah was distributed within the framework of projects that the Board of Endowments implements under the auspices and supervision of the Minister of Religious Affairs, who said that Qatar’s support for their brothers in Sudan has continued.
The beneficiaries of the project implemented by Qatar Charity in Sudan thanked the benefactors from Qatar. A mother of five orphans prayed to Allah to reward the benefactors who made them happy with Udhiyah, while Mona Bashir Judeh , who is with motor disabilities, said that Qatar Charity supports those in need, especially in such seasons.
Somalia
In Somalia, Qatar Charity distributed sacrificial meat in many cities of the different regions, targeting needy families, orphans and the displaced living in the camps.
The beneficiaries thanked the donors from Qatar, who shared the joy of Eid with the vulnerable during the blessed days of Eid al-Adha.
Bangladesh
In Bangladesh, Qatar Charity distributed sacrificial meat to the poor, widows, and orphans, in the presence of the local government’s representatives, who hailed Qatar Charity’s Udhiyah project.
Mr. Hossain Mohammad Jakir, executive officer of Dhaka’s Dhamrai Upazila (UNO), who took part in the meat distribution program, commended Qatar Charity’s efforts to provide Udhiyah meat to the helpless and orphans.
The beneficiaries were delighted with the Udhiyah project. Saleha Begum of Rangpur District says that Qatar Charity supports us by implementing many seasonal projects, indicating that she received food aid in Ramadan, and meat this time.
