Each Ramadan, Islamic Relief staff and volunteers around the world distribute food parcels to those in need. This year, when many families are struggling with rising food prices, our Ramadan parcels help to ease their burden during the holy month.
Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing photos from our offices around the world, showing how Islamic Relief supports communities during Ramadan.
Last week, Islamic Relief distributed 1,000 Ramadan food packs to families in need in the Beqaa area of Lebanon.
This year, our food packs include two parcels, ensuring families have enough to eat for the entire month of Ramadan.
The parcels contained food staples such as lentils, rice and white flour, as well as local foods like hummus and baba ghanoush.
Working with local partners, Islamic Relief distributed 2,000 Ramadan food packs last week in Sarawak – a Malaysian state located on the island of Borneo.
This distribution is part of more than 6,000 boxes delivered around Malaysia this year.
Ingredients used in local cuisine such as sardines, soy sauce and coconut milk are included in the food packs, along with staple items.
In Same, Mali, we distributed 200 food packs to people with disabilities last week to help them break their fast this Ramadan.
This year, we’re expecting to distribute nearly 2,700 food packages in Bamako district and Ouelessebougou in the south of Mali.
We will also distribute cash vouchers so people we support can choose which food to purchase.
Islamic Relief’s Ramadan food distributions are a lifeline to vulnerable families
